Champagne Socialists or Hooray Henrys?

Grimy Miner, Going Postal

I my previous post (see here) I highlighted the concerns regarding the drinking culture at Durham University and how the Labour MP for Durham City, Dr Roberta Blackman-Woods, voted with the student element in the referendum, indeed, in conversations that I had with her on her blog (now deleted by her) she said that she voted that way because of the student vote in Durham, and how important it was to heed their voices.

When it was pointed out to her that the student vote was transient and that her resident constituency had voted massively in favour of Leave she severed contact.

Presumed Consent

At the Conservative Party Conference in October 2017, PM Theresa May pledged to introduce a system of presumed consent for organ donation in England. A similar opt-out system has existed in Wales since 1st December 2015, and in the summer of 2017 the Scottish government stated that it intended to introduce a “soft opt-out” for organ donation in Scotland.

I object very strongly to this change, the concept of presumed consent subverts the whole nature of organ donation. No longer will it be an altruistic gesture, the state will claim ownership of your body parts when you are near death, unless you specifically register your objection on the official database.

Sex and drugs and upper firsts

I live a few miles out of Durham City, in a former pit village. For those who don’t know Durham it is a World Heritage site

Grimy Miner, Going Postal

and home to Durham University, one of the prestigious 5 Universities in Britain (Oxford, Cambridge, Edinburgh and Imperial College London being the others).

Durham University is (temporary) home to some seventeen and a half thousand students (last available figures 2014). There exists an uneasy truce twixt Town and Gown but our MP, Ms Roberta Blackman-Woods, and Durham County Council, seems to hold them in higher regard than their more permanent constituents. I communicated with Ms R B-W regarding her stance on Brexit and she eventually stated that she voted to remain because “the student vote was to remain”. When it was pointed out that this 17,000+ voter base was transient, and that they could not ALL be remainers and that her total constituency had, in fact, voted to leave she closed communication with me and deleted the correspondence on her blog.

Jerusalem – Trump Exposes the Moral Void

And did those feet in ancient time walk upon England’s mountains green? I cannot be alone in thinking that they did not do so to deny justice or to deny their Christian heritage.  Nor did they walk in support of the tyranny of an Arabic and Islamic majority, or minority for that matter.

And was the holy Lamb of God on England’s pleasant pastures seen? That holy lamb appears to have been slaughtered in accordance with Islamic ritual on England’s once green and pleasant land with the Church of England and the UK Government looking on, impotent.  And now the slaughter is repeated, this time with the UK Government a willing cheerleader, in the elitist auditorium of the United Nations by the UK ambassador to the UN. Here he sided with the confederation of caliphates and Jew haters in condemning the United States of America and its President Donald J Trump for announcing that the USA will follow through with moving its Israeli embassy to the capital city of Israel – Jerusalem.

….Or What the Mainstream Media is Neglecting to Report.

 Contextual Interlude – False News

In Part 1 the manner in which the mainstream media (MSM) misreport and avoid reporting the news was highlighted surrounding the events of the indictment of Paul Manafort in October, which for 48Hrs was the smoking gun for the indictment of Trump. The MSM have since gone silent on Manafort, deadly silent and silent on Tony Podesta whose lobbying firm is reported to be being wound down in the fallout from the Manafort indictment. Little in the way of ‘follow up’ from CNN, ABC, MSNBC, NYT, WaPo or the BBC. More on this is explained here. Also highlighted was the fascination of the MSM with ‘knee-touching’ and other aspects of toxic masculinity, but a few weeks have now passed, and the #MeToo hashtag has taken the minds of the public away from the documented sexual assault and paedophilia news stories associated with big names – big ‘Liberal’ names such as Kevin Spacey, Harvey Weinstein, Matt Lauer, John Conyers, Al Franken and a whole string of Democrat and Hollywood associated sex pests.

The Relevance of Christianity – Part Two

Last time I wrote about the state of religion in the UK, and the lessons Christianity can teach us regarding modern life. Today, I cover some further lessons, and some hope for the future.

Free Speech

Jonathon Davies, Going PostalJesus spoke his mind. He said things that upset people. He said he was the son of God. He threw the money lenders out of the temple. The temple was controlled by the Roman Empire, the EU of its day. He was hounded by the Pharisees, who constantly questioned what he was saying, and wanted to silence him. We have our own Pharisees today, in the mainstream media, politicians, groups that police speech online and offline, social justice warriors, and others. They are the self-appointed gatekeepers of what is right and wrong. Constantly they seek to control what we can and cannot say, and increasingly what we can and cannot think. One of Jesus’ criticism of the Pharisees was that they exhibited themselves as righteous on account of being scrupulous keepers of the law, but were in fact not righteous. Their mask of righteousness hid a secret inner world of ungodly thoughts and feelings. They were full of wickedness. If the word Nazi had existed, they would have called him a Nazi. This again is reminiscent of social justice warriors and the left today. They pretend righteousness, and label people. But deep down it is they who are unrighteous, and full of hate, both for themselves and others. Jesus challenged the established order and for this they sough to destroy him. The same can be seen today with anyone who challenges the established narrative. Trump, Brexit, Islam. Support the first two and criticise the second and you are a heretic and “Literally Hitler.” In the modern day UK it is becoming harder and harder to speak your mind. Jesus was eventually crucified by the authorities for telling people what he believed to be true. Think on this.

The Relevance of Christianity – Part One

The State of Affairs

According to the 2011 census, Christians make up 59.5% of the UK population. Those with no religion make up 25.7%. Then you have Islam, Hinduism, Sikhism, Judaism and Buddhism. Anglicans make up the majority of Christians, followed by Catholics like myself (I regard the current Pope as a cuck who should be removed from office). Church attendances have been falling, while Islam has been increasing. The media (we all know who) constantly assault the church and Christian faith. This was seen with the various hatchet jobs on Jacob Rees-Mogg for saying what he believed in. Nothing is sacred any longer, except Islam. People have fallen out of love with Christianity, and now turn to the internet for salvation. Men can become women, women can become men. It seems anyone can marry almost anything. We appear to be culturally cast adrift, and morals are breaking down all around us. Almost anything goes. The news no longer shocks. We have seen people die live on T.V. What more is there? For many, science is the new religion, the new God.

Clinton Crimes – The Silence is Deafening. Part Three

….Or What the Mainstream Media is Neglecting to Report.

 It’s the Russians…..

It’s the Russians! Yes, all roads lead to Russia it appears, especially when it comes to the results of elections in the West that don’t go the way of the established Establishment wisdom. Russian interference, Russian hacking, Russian Bots, Russian collusion, the Russian dossier. It’s so exciting – like being back in ‘Cold War’ times!

When it comes to Hillary Clinton, there is a Russia connection, or rather, there are many. Before the election of Donald Trump, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton had taken the moral high ground with respect to respecting the outcome of the election and condemned Trump’s claims that the election was rigged through fraudulent voting. Hillary’s protestations and that of the media changed after the election. After the 8th of November 2016, both Obama and Clinton in a shameless volte face determined that the election had been rigged after all and the result should be questioned. What’s more, it was the Russians that had done it!

Absolutism and Abortion

Katabasis, Going PostalThe ongoing vilification of Jacob Rees-Mogg regarding his specific view on abortion is beyond the pale for any society that regards itself as civilised and rational. There is a reason that numerous philosophical dilemmas and problems have exercised the greatest thinkers for not just centuries, but millennia – because they are intractable.

The ethics of sex, child-bearing and infanticide have been debated since the time of the ancient Greeks and quite possibly long beyond. The only major shift to have occurred recently is the advent of extremely effective birth-control technologies on either side of conception. And far from solving the problem, these innovations have made the issue yet more intractable.

I find myself, reluctantly, on the pro-choice side of the spectrum. I say spectrum because deciding one’s position on abortion is as much about one’s choice of values and the compromises one finds personally permissible between them. And I say reluctantly because whilst there are stronger and weaker arguments in both directions, the very nature of the problem – a ‘wicked problem’ as climate sceptic scientist Judith Curry (also vilified for different reasons) says of climate change – yields no possible overwhelming marshaling of arguments and evidence on either side. It really is, somewhat ironically, a matter of choice which one cleaves to.

Trump Derangement Syndrome

Ang Ryman, Going Postal
President Trump’s Twitter habit is the cause of much distress, especially in the Westminster Bubble Mental Asylum Pictured right, with inmates Khant, Sturgeon MSP, May PM, Lammy MP, Hannan MEP and Chris Bryant MP on the Far Right

A new widespread phenomenon, a disease affecting the mind, an illness of the psyche has infected many people in the public eye. The condition can be referred to descriptively as ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome’. There are many commentators who have noted evidence of this condition on both sides of the Atlantic.

So what is it? Who has it? How can it be recognised? Is it catching? Is it virulent? Should we be worried?

Firstly, it would be useful to describe what ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome’ [TDS] is. I offer my description:

WHAT? A psychological condition brought about by an unbreakable belief that President Donald J Trump is a clear and present danger to humanity, a racist a fascist and a sex offender. Believers, sufferers, view all words and actions from President Trump through the lens of this self-defined and demonstrably false reality, needing to utilise advanced mental gymnastics in a continually failing attempt to maintain ‘sense’ of the political world as it manifests itself daily.
